The Rules (K)

The Basics:

We will play on All-Star with 6 minutes quarters. We will have a 29 game schedule. This format was chosen so that weaker players have more incentive to play. Small games reduce the odds of blowouts and loses are easier to swallow. Games are also easier to schedule, than a 14 game schedule with 12 minute quarters.

The playoff format will be a 3-3-5-5. No do or die, and no overwhelming amount of games for those involved and those waiting for the off-season.


Some ''Sim Rules'':

The first and only rule that will be hardlined is this one : You will have to play at least 8 players from your roster from start to finish. You can't roll with your starting 5 all game. You have to make substitutions. I understand that some star players don't take a lot of breaks (Kobe etc), and we play limited time games, hence why it's only 8 players.


The others are mainly gentlemen's rules, as I believe anyone can roll with them with no problem.

Star players : Last year Monta Ellis was the player with the highest shot ratio of all. For the game, Monta took on average 25% of GS's shots. Any team who approaches the 50% mark in a game will be looked upon (if reported), several offenses will get the boot. (This does not concern POINTS, only ATTEMPTS, as you can be highly succesful with a player, without necessarily abusing him).

3 point shots : Last year the Dallas Mavericks were the team who took the most shots from the 3 point line with about a 35% average. Any team who goes beyound the 50% mark in a game will be looked upon (if reported), several offenses will get the boot.
(Again, this does not concern points, but attempts)

Note for both rules above: No team will get penalized for going to the charity strike. Shooting fouls will be counted as attempts. (FT/2)

Franchise Player: You will have to name one franchise player, that won't be able to move for the year. It is not obligated that he is your best player, but he has to have a desirable quality. Weak teams can also lock a weaker player and their first round choice. Teams can also chose a weaker player because he plays at a position where rarity is present (PG and C)

(Ex: Ricky Rubio can be MIN's franchise player despite being 67, because he's a young first round pick, with high passing.)
(Ex2: The Magic wants to rebuild by trading Howard, they can franchise another player (Nelson for ex) and their first round choice.)*
(Ex3: The Bucks chose Bogut, instead of Jennings as the league is thin in good PG's)

*: The Pick can be traded to go up in the draft, and no more than 4 spots down in the draft, must acquire a young player or pick with the down.


Advancing:
In NBA, there's a 16 hour clock that advances by ITSELF. It's a HARD deadline and I can'T do anything about it.
It advances a day of calendar, meaning that you aren't affected every day. You can play any game vs anyone when you want to, but some games are required to play before a set date, those are your priority, the ones you are REQUIRED to schedule. Those will be simulated if you do not play them before the date.

Usually there will be a block of games, and then a big pause. The pause is there so that you can play your games before the deadline without being overwhelmed. The timer only servers as a deadline, and not an indicator of when you should play the game.
